Monsieurs Weaver & Greenshields Carvin It Up

Firstly a few word from Jon Boy out in the mountains ...

Big Jon Hits One.jpg

"Last weekend in Laax was the Pleasure Jam with many of Europes top riders in attendance for the annual end of season session. Me and Gary Greenshields went over and sessioned every bit of slush until it melted. There was also an alternative boardercross necking a beer then doing a run which had an acid drop to the pipe, couple of pipe hits and a straight at the end to box.... I got through to the semi finals but by that point all ze germans proved too good at beer drinking and took it away from me.... We did some fun flips on the hip and it was a great week.
I am thinking of NZ with Tom and Gary if I can manage it so I will let you know!"

And from Gazza...

Gary On It.jpg

"Well hello Relentless, how are you all doin'? Me, I have been busy........ first up was a quick trip to Avoriaz for the park contest which went down a storm. I then had a few days at home to relax and wash my smelly gear before the Brits. The Brits went well where I finished up 3rd in the pipe, 2nd in the big air, 5th in the slope style and 1st in the TTR contest. I also managed to shoot some good pics and hang with my Relentless team mate Mr Tom West who got 3rd in the big air.....sweet. Next stop was Tignes France to shoot pics with my buddy - check him out at http://www.nathangallagher.com. We got some sweet shots but you will have to wait untill next winter to see them in the mags. I then had a 8 day trip to Austria with photo hound Dan Milner in a great area of Austria called Vol Arlberg where we got so lucky with snow and weather and got lots of shots in the bag........be sure to check out Suk Mag next winter for the story. It was then back to my car to drive home to wash some gear (again) and get up early to jump on the train to Munich to fly to Oslo Norway for a week for a contest and photo shoot. Pure Relentless. Hemsedal is a beautiful place up in the middle of Norway. There there was good snow and a great park to play in. I managed to get into the final after only 1 hour to test the park before the comp. The course was 4 jumps into a rail into a halfpipe then a hip qp combo.....a hell of a long course but good fun. For the final though there was something different in store, a 25meter booter into a massif hip that sent you high and far. Only the top 16 made it through and i was lucky to be in 13th place going into the final. I had some solid runs but managed to only improve on my qualifying place and move up to 11th. We shot some sweet shots and had a really nice time up there thanks to Nat Mayer and Tamsin (check out Whitelines for the story next winter). Once i got back from Norway i was straight into the Burton Black Metal trip to Mayrhofen. The winners of the Blackmetal series (....sponsored by Relentless) were invited to ride the park with us burton pros. It was so much fun riding jumps and jibin the piste and rails all day. I even whipped up some food Greenshields style for everyone on the last night. A quick nights sleep then i was back in the car off to laax (again) for the pleasure jam. its a summer style session where everyone just has fun and shoots pics and rides hard all day. 5 days of solid riding and shooting and i was done. It was so much fun and the partys were great. Thanks to Jan and Bene for a great week. Now i am back home for a night i just got back from a comp in St Anton were i was a judge for a day and now i am going to Ischgl tomorrow to shoot with vernon deck for the day. Then i go to switzerland for the final of the Volcom peanut butter rail jam. it 's going to be so good ...... then Sunday back to Norway for a week (April 22nd-30th) to shoot with the Volcom crew and some friends...... So, now when you see how tired i am at the board test May 5th -12th you will understand why... come to think of it pass me one of those cold cans! ;-)"

Relentless? Ya think?

Mr West Busts Himself Up

Hot on the back of his successes at the Brits, Relentless favourite with the ladies Tom West has only gone and broken his leg! A rather scrappy 5 off the kicker he tells us ... them the breaks bro ... literally like.

Fortunately he's already on the mend and we look forward to seeing him back on the glacier later this summer or nailing the wallride at a park near you as he did so gloriously at the recent XBOXBDO! Here's wishing you a swift recovery mate ... naughty nurse in the post!

Relentless' Big Week Out In Val D

XBOXBDO1.jpg

Well the 20hr drive to Val D was about as Relentless as it gets - good job we brought lashings of our stay awake juice! Then, once in resort who could have anticipated the No Half Measures snow fall - talk about de heavens opening man! What comp could honestly have survived that??? But at the end of it all we had a rockin time in the Relentless chalet, we loved our sessions in the powder with Jon, Tom, Gary, Tyler and co, and at the end of the day found ourselves suitably entertained by our nights on the tiles tuckin' in to the local hospitality! (Well at least until somebody served me a dirty glass ... honest guys I can hold my Jeigermeister!!!!)

You will of course be able to find out all about the weeks stand out performances on all the snowboard forums but our side here's a few photographic memories from the week with the odd podcast to follow in the days ahead.

Back at Relentless Chalet HQ ... the card sessions got serious ... Mr West's poker face particularly impressive...

Ahead of the qualifiers Tom still hasn't quite nailed the dead pan play ... sleep easy Mr Cincinatti!

Our new Norwegian buddy and Forum rider Daniel drops in with a massive indi ahead of a tidy rodeo over the rail ... (ok so you've got to really want to see it!...)

XBOXBDO4.jpg

Well the wise men of the hills will tell you the same amount of snow falls from the sky every season ... it's just all about when it falls. Well from where I was sittin' I reckon it all fell in Val last week. Those of you heading out to the hills iminently ... drink deep, go steady on the off piste and have the phattest time. Peace. Out.

Tom West Stateside

Due to lack of snow in europe Relentless teamrider Tom West decided to up camp and head over to the states (Mammoth California to be precise) to check out what all the fuss was about. Bottom line - it's all true!!! Perfect parks and sunshine all day long really do make for a 'rather pleasant' break from the drizzel back in europe.

To quote our boy "With jumps named showtime booter, money booter and the dymend booter I felt right at home"

Keep dancin' guys the white stuff for Europe is just around the corner. Honest guv.

HELLO 2007 !

Well friends it hasn't stopped at Relentless HQ. Although we've not been live on the blog these past few weeks rest assured we've been crazy busy behind the scenes pulling together the plans for a tight year on Relentless in 2007. Lots to come on this over the next few weeks but first things first ... let us introduce you to the enhanced Relentless Team for this year and beyond. Here's the story...

"Remembering Relentless is the drink for athletes and professionals who are ready to stamp their mark on their sport – those that embrace the grind in the knowledge that even genius has to pay its dues, those who live and suffer for their art on a daily basis.

With this in mind last year saw us combing the country for the UK’s stand out core sport artists … Those who proved their obsession, stamina and white-hot talent - those who wore No Half Measures attitude and artistry for all to see – were invited to come and ride for Relentless. And in doing so we would look to showcase their attitude, their artistry, and tell their story.

Today, joining the established artists at Relentless we are proud to announce snowboarders Tyler Chorlton and Gary Greenshields, BMX rider Mark Webb, The Death Skate Team, wakeboarders Nick Davies and Jonty Green, downhill mountain biker Will Longden, kitesurfer Lewis Crathern, FMX riders Gary Taylor and Danny Veale, surfers Micah Leister, Toby Atkins, Jayce Robinson, Dan Joel, Ian Battrick and Sam Smart and motox riders Alex Snow and Jamie Law who along with Lewis Gregory will be riding for “Relentless Suzuki” on the British and European stage in 2007. Look out for this crew – their talent, their achievements and their Relentless stories in the year ahead."

First story as premiering in this months Wavelength, Pit Pilot and Carve - Mr Sam Smart. Surfer, Boxer and all round Relentless to the core. Attitude and artistry. We love his work.

Sam Press.jpg

So much more to come on and from this crew in 2007. We'll be telling their stories right here and beyond. Be seein' ya soon. Ciao for now.

Big Jon's Big Day Approaches

Well The Playground Premier is almost here. Check out http://www.hungerpain.netfor the latest news ahead of the big night on the 26th Oct. Relentless rider Jon Weaver has been kinda busy over the last few months. No Half Measures from the big man. Aside from pulling together his second film he's been on the road in mainland Europe promoting the latest film from Forum. In his own words we have this update from our boy...

"9 days, 5 countries, 6 tour stops, THAT was the Forum European Tour of with the new movie THAT. With yours truly Jon Weaver as spokesman.

A Big Jon.jpg

... pictures are from Freestyle.ch in Zurich, Switzerland where 40,000 locals went nuts as I serenaded them with my best German ahead of the viewing spectacular. A lot of very late nights and a lot of early mornings combined to be one killer tour leaving kids stoked, girls swooning and riders waiting for winter. We visited Innsbruck, Zurich, Barcelona, Madrid, Stockholm and Moscow all of which had crazy huge parties, tons of local brews and a whole bunch of fun times..... That was the THAT tour. Check it out in stores now!"

Looked phat. Can't wait, won't wait for winter.

The Last Few Months With Big JW

For all of you keen to know how Jon's been since his nasty accident earlier this year ... our boy's been busy!

" Well what a strange couple of months... Following the launch of Hungerpain last year I was all stoked and set up for an an amazing winter. Unfortunately on Valentines Day (I know, I should have been home reading all my cards) I was out riding the park when, well, I managed to break my neck. That left me with this rather dashing scar..

JW Scar.jpg

The doc opened me up by the windpipe (then moved it ... kinda painful) and took out the joint between c5 and c6. My amazing doc went on to replace this little joint with bone from my hip, then covered c5 and c6 with titanium. I am now officially bionic! So, what of the rest of the winter? In short I spent most of it filming the Forum and Hungerpain crew, getting fit and strong again in the gym (saying hello to my little friends...) and at the end of it all I managed to squeeze in a bit of travel heading to Lake Tahoe for some more filming....
JW Lake Tahoe.JPG

Gotta say while out there a couple of american chicks liked me and one of my riders and they left us these rather groovy love letters.....
JW The Funny Letters.jpg
... funny times....

Oh yeah, lest I forget, this winter I also got round to organising a team week for Forum in Austria when all the Forum riders from around the world came and shredded.....
JW Flying High.jpg

We had all kinda of games after riding including this war game....
JW Sharp Shooter.jpg
... might be one those 'you had to be there moments' but what the hell!

So what of life this summer. Well, been chilling, been running and been spending hour after hour in the gym trying to get strong again (say hello to my bigger friends!). In between time I also went to see Deep Purple for some serious rock....

I also went off on holiday to get some sun and prepare for the coming winter with my girlfriend (who will now soon find out about the love letters .... doh!... I didn't do anything Baby!... can I help it if I'm a little bit irristible?)
JW & Lady.jpg

I have also been working on my house "The Hungerpain Hotel" a snowboarders best friend in Austria.
JW At Work.jpg

But the bulk of my time has been taken up working on the launch of our new film "The Playground" by Hungerpain and our new clothing line called "noise". The "Playground" is coming your way soon ... see you in Milton Keynes 26th October for the premier!

Well that's about it from me for now. See you on the slopes, knee deep in the good stuff! Take it easy."

Jon (looking forward to winter)

'Relentless' Goes Up The Mountain

Relentless Heli Boarding.jpg
March '06
La Rosiere's sweet spot.

We couldn't let the season finish without taking Relentless up the hill. Our own chopper for the day, knee-deep fresh powder, a couple of local guides with hardcore No Half Measures attitude, and a backpack full of Relentless to keep us on our game. That's about as sweet as it gets.

The First 'Relentless' Slider Snowside

Relentless New Slider Xscape.JPG
March ‘06
Get on. Hold on.

… our juice is in situ at Milton Keynes, Castleford and Glasgow Xscape snow-domes from the beginning of March.. Charge yourself up for the session then get on it on the new Relentless slider and give it some stick. Push more, risk more, feel more … courage, heart, … and okay a little bit of pain…
