RELENTLESS SUZUKI CADWELL ROUND UP

The Toomebridge rider maintains ninth place in the series following eighth and ninth places, only two points behind Simon Andrew with six races remaining.

Ian Lowry showed true grit and determination at Cadwell Park, coming from a lowly qualifying position of 16th to eventually finish eighth on the tight and twisty Lincolnshire circuit in the Supersport class. Having crashed heavily during free practice at over 120mph, it was a brave effort from the battered and bruised 21-year-old.

Aussie Cameron Donald joined Lowry in the sick bay at Cadwell with a stomach bug, but didn't let it deter him, eventually finishing in 11th place. This was Donald's last race in the British Superstock Championship for 2008 as he returns to Melbourne on Monday.

Paul Edmondson king of the hill

WOR Events ran something rather special on Saturday evening. Berwyn Leisure Park, near Oswestry, was the venue for both the sixth round of the Putoline XC Championship series and a WOR Event on Sunday but Saturday evening saw an extraordinary hill-climb challenge, attempted by many but conquered by one of our own –Relentless Suzuki Enduro rider Paul Edmondson. Set on a steep valley side, the course ran for approximately 750 metres on loose shale and grass, with virtually no run-up to the hill. A nasty kicker right at the start of the climb saw riders lose momentum and have to fight for every in gained up the nigh on impossible incline.

To add to the challenge the Welsh weather joined in and it rained solidly as darkness fell but the only rider to beat the beast was Fast Eddy aboard his RMZ450. Despite several failed attempts Edmondson used every ounce of skill and determination to weave his way to the top. In the end it was pure pride and the refusal to be beaten that saw Edmondson conquer the climb in near darkness, where all others had failed. Endurance at its best bought out by WOR’s innovative challenge. (GR)

TOP TEN IN DENMARK FOR LEWIS GREGORY

Team Relentless Suzuki MX rider, Lewis Gregory, claimed yet another top-ten result in the European Championships at Randers in Denmark at the weekend, onboard his RM-Z250.

Qualifying in eighth position at the sandy track, Lewis was determined to fly the flag for the team that has been dogged by recent rider injury. Going into race one, Lewis made a promising start, only to be held up in the first turn to emerge from it in 15th place. A spirited ride once again saw Lewis battle through the pack to eighth, making contact with the chasing pack that saw fourth place a realistic finish. However, a mishap and stalled bike, left the RM-Z rider with work to do again, eventually battling back to seventh place at the flag.

Keen to improve in the second race of the day, Lewis' hopes were dashed early-on after clashing bars with another rider and crashing within just 15 metres of the start line. Getting back on the bike swiftly, saw him race back through the pack to a notable 12th place finish, handing him a worthy seventh position overall on the day.

BRADLEY SMITH SIXTH @ BRNO 125GP

Bradley Smith fought his way into sixth place in the 125 cc race won by 18 year old German Stefan Bradl after leading the early stages. Rain in practice and qualifying meant little set-up time in the dry for the 125 cc riders and it was the Polaris World team of Smith that suffered.

Bradley Smith said “I made a great start and led but I could not believe how fast the others were when they went past,” revealed the 17 year old. We had found a better set up and pace during the dry morning warm-up but I just could not stay with the others when they went past. I kept going as fast as I dared and sixth place keeps me in seventh place in the Championship.”

Laverty Relentless in hunt for podium finish

Michael Laverty is seeking his first podium finish of the season next weekend when the Bennetts British Superbike Championship reaches Cadwell Park for the August Bank Holiday Monday extravaganza.

Laverty's results this year have not reflected his efforts on track and those behind the scenes of the Relentless Suzuki by TAS squad, with his best result being two fourth places at Oulton Park and Brands Hatch.

At the previous round at Knockhill, Laverty had been consistently strong throughout free practice and qualifying but when it came to the races he had to settle for sixth. As the championship reaches round nine though, Laverty is ready to step on to the podium. (GR)

Relentless Aerial Assault at the Rip Curl Boardmasters

After a week at the Rip Curl Boardmasters in Newquay Team Relentless are in drastic need of some sleep! Europe's biggest surf, skate and music festival did not dissapoint, despite the challenge of days with torrential rain and a mudfest at Unleashed.

The Brazillians came, saw and conquered at the WQS surf contest with ripper Wiggolly Dantes claiming the lion's share of the $100,000 prize money while it was Australian Rip Curl surfer Matt Wilkinson who scooped up 1st place for the UK's first Relentless Aerial Assault!

IMG_8846.jpg

The Aerial Assault was the UK's first Tow-At competition to be held at Boardmasters and after this year it will undoubtedly become a regular feature of the event. Competitors were asked to spin our 'Wheel of Fortune' to decide what manoeuvres should be pulled off in the 2 man heats. Whoever pulled off the sickest 360 Aerial, or Biggest Air (for example) went through to the next heat.

The Brits were the first entries at Fistral on Friday morning with Sam Lamiroy pulling off some promising displays during practice, it all seemed to be going quite well until the Aussie's rolled up. UK Pro Surf Tour contestant and honorary Brit Micah Lester pulled off the Biggest Air of the day to claim second in a tense final but was still stoked to be stood next to Matt who is currently one of the hottest surfers on this year's WQS Tour.

Unleashed festival - a double sided coin!

The Boardmasters is over. Another incredibly succesfull week saw record crowds down at both Fistral and the Unleashed site. Mother nature proved yet again to be a bit of a fickle maiden, as she mixed things up with both Baywatch like sunny beach conditions, and hellish rain mayhem. Friday was one of those days you keep your fingers crossed for. Summer temperatures, flowing drinks and tuneful sounds by the likes of Groove Armada, Natty, Audio Bully's and Haunts.

Chris Moyles and the radio 1 team even paid the festival a visit recording a live show.

Saturday however the rain took over and howling winds and thundering rain turned the site into a quagmire. The bands, and fans soldiered on and took the conditions in their stride making it into a day to remember. The No Half Measures stage a highlight, with the wind proving a perfect setting for Skirtbox's flowing locks.

Gallows brought it all to a pinnacle by stripping down to their whites and getting down and dirty with the fans. A performance that won't be forgotten by many who attended.

For those who still hadn't gotten enough, and judging by the fact it was one in one out by 11pm there were a lot of you, the Relentless after parties played host to a couple of incredibly fun and jam packed evenings. Audio Bully's tore down the Koola Bar, as did a sing along anthemic DJ set from Gallows and Haunts. I'm off to bed....

LOWRY WINS @ KNOCKHILL - SUPERSPORT

Ian Lowry produced a near faultless performance at Knockhill in Fife, putting his K8 GSX-R600 Relentless by TAS Suzuki on the top step of the British Supersport podium.

Lowry moved to the front of the field as early as lap five and was never troubled throughout the race, which was red flagged after 22 of the scheduled 27 laps. Lowry also set the fastest lap of the race on lap 11. He remains third in the championship table on 120 points behind Glen Richards [157] and Hudson Kennaugh [127] with four rounds remaining.

Lowry Podium - (425 Blog Aug 08).bmp

Michael Laverty had a frustrating day in the Superbike class with only one points scoring finish to show for his front row qualifying position. Sixth place in race one was followed by an early retirement in race two after a wrong tyre choice prematurely ended his weekend in Scotland. Laverty's consolation was the Flying Haggis trophy for setting the fastest Superbike lap of the day. He occupies eighth place in the BSB Championship on 110 points.

Australian Cameron Donald made his Knockhill debut in the Superstock class, finishing today's race in eighth place. Donald now moves on to Dundrod for next week's Ulster Grand Prix in Northern Ireland.

PROBERT OUT WITH INJURY

Relentless Suzuki MX rider, Scott Probert, suffered a crash in practice during the week, that has resulted in injuries that may see the Suzuki rider out for the rest of the season.

Scott, who has only just returned to the Maxxis British Championship after suffering injury earlier in the season, was involved in an accident while practicing in Cumbria this week with team mate Jamie Law, suffering a broken bone to his hand and severe damage to his ankle.

Due to undergo surgery later this week that will see the RM-Z rider have his ankle pinned and plated, Probert has been told by doctors that he could be out of action for up to three months, effectively ending his season.

DONALD RE-SIGNS FOR RELENTLESS SUZUKI

Relentless Suzuki by TAS Racing is pleased to announce the signing of Aussie sensation Cameron Donald for the 2009 season.

Donald, a double winner at this year's Isle of Man TT, has shown early commitment to Relentless Suzuki and TAS Racing, putting pen to paper earlier today.
