Relentless partners up with T in the Park!!!

We are extremely excited and proud to be partenering up with one of the biggest UK festivals there is. T in the Park, is legendary for it's incredible line-ups and ground breaking festival infrastructures. We've secured our own arena, where we'll have the UKFMX, Animal mountain bike, and Vans BMX and Skate teams shredding the ramps throughout the weekend. On top of that we have in incredible line-up of bands on our stage. This is truly representative of up and coming music on the UK scene as we know it. Make a special effort to come and see our Relentless sponsored bands Haunts on Friday, Skirtbox and *Shels on Saturday, as well as In Case of Fire playing on the King Tut's stage. We've also just had confirmation from You Me at Six, and the most excellent Annie...

SIXTH OVERALL FOR LEWIS GREGORY

The fifth round of the Maxxis British Motocross Championship moved across the Irish sea to its now traditional visit to the sandy Desertmartin track in Northern Ireland at the weekend.

Heavy overnight rain and persistent heavy showers throughout race day made the sandy going very heavy, making it power and energy sapping for both bikes and riders.

IMG_8830-425.JPG

In the MX2 class, Lewis Gregory started his weekend off with a disappointing 13th in timed qualification after bike set up woes. Determined to put it behind him in the first race, his luck didn't improve initially after a wet first corner melee left him fighting back from 28th position. But a strong 30 minute comeback brought the Relentless backed rider up to an impressive eighth place by the flag.

Race two was to see an improved start, with Lewis getting away cleanly and into race pace quickly, before being delayed by a boggy part of the track seeing him drop back into the middle of the pack. Determined not let this hold him back, Lewis battled through the pack again to finish in an impressive seventh place, giving him sixth place overall, and promoting the RM-Z250 rider to 10th in the series standings.

In the MX1 class Jamie Law was ninth quickest in timed qualification on his RM-Z450. Race one saw Jamie get a mid-pack start and he again showed great determination and grit to fight through to eighth place at the flag. A crash on lap one of the second race left Jamie well down the field, after another spirited ride he reached the finish line in ninth, with another solid eighth place overall on the day.

Team manager Rob Hooper commented, “I am very happy with both riders today, they have both showed real grit and ‘Relentless’ application to bring home some good results. The really heavy going was a test for both bikes and riders and the bikes were faultless in their performance.”

Relentless NASS 08!

Winner of Relentless NASS 08 - Mark Webb
NASS08(c)Woodage 3943.jpg

It's taken a couple of days longer than I would have liked to bring you this follow-up from Relentless NASS but as you can imagine there's a huge amount of work that goes into taking down every last bit of the country's most storming action sports and music festival this year so far (Boardmasters is still incoming don't forget)! Every last grain of dirt we used to build the jumps, every single last empty can of Relentless, the huge Athlete lounge and of course the best street course the country has ever seen(!!) ALL had to be dismantled/disposed of, and I for one am devastated it's all over!

Animal Relentless Mountain Bike Tour

I could stay fully stoked for a decade about how this year's standard of BMX blew the roof, how every sport across the Industry was delivered to the highest degree, how much fun it was to have the new additions - street boarding and slalom skate - props to those boys, they all had a blast. Pendulum rocked the main stage at NASS and I believe many of you are hailing this event as the best NASS ever witnessed! Ta very much!
NASS08(c)Woodage 3823.jpg

The BMX final this year was hair raising, I'm still watching the play back on mpora.com and feeling like I'm watching the live event. Our Relentless rider Mark Webb put on a show that blew the audience away with tricks even Mark has never landed before himself. Mark cleaned up at the event gaining a 1st Place on the Braun Spine Ramp and an undisputed 1st Place on the Street Course. Ben Hennon was another awesome contender over the weekend, claiming 2nd in the Dirt Finals and 3rd in the BMX Street, and thanks to Renton Millar on Vert Skate who flew in for the event to put on a brilliant show.

And finally, I just want to give a shout out to Scotty Hamblin - hope you're feeling better. You gave us all a shock but HUGE props for the near backflip to Superman!! Look forward to seeing you soon.

Relentless NASS - It's ON!!!!

The build for Relentless NASS has started and the Bath & West Showground is being transformed for this weekend's festival. An insane line-up including Pendulum, Less than Jake and my personal favourites at the moment Does it Offend You Yeah? will be following the day's huge offering of BMX, Skate, FMX, Inline to name a few.

Yesterday the first dirt jump took shape and today Scarfy's team started putting the UK's best street course together for the ultimate BMX & Skate contests.

With the event under new management, this year will be better than it has ever been. We're expecting Europe's best to descend on Shepton Mallet this weekend - and personally I cannot wait!

Relentless Suzuki 1 & 2 in first race @ Isle of Mann TT

It was an all Suzuki podium in yesterdays TT Superbike race on the Isle of Man with Relentless Rider Cameron Donald taking his first ever Mountain Circuit victory.

Relentless Suzuki teammate Bruce Anstey followed him home in second place, with former TAS Suzuki pilot Adrian Archibald in third – a clean sweep for the K8 GSX–R1000 TAS Performance prepared Suzukis.

Guy Martin was the early race leader, but Donald was relentless in his pursuit of the Lincolnshire rider, taking over at the front on lap 4 when Martin retired at Sulby. Both Cameron & Bruce circulated together from as early as lap three, and when they eventually crossed the line at the end of six laps and 226 miles of racing, they were only separated by 10 seconds at the head of the field.

Donald also recorded his fastest ever lap around the 37.73-mile Mountain Circuit on lap six, with a time of 17 minutes 30.84 seconds at 129.256mph. In pursuit of Donald, Bruce Anstey also recorded a sub 18-minute lap with a speed of 129.207mph.

podiumblog.jpg

We spoke to Cameron moments after he puled in to Park Ferme..

“It just hasn’t sunk in yet, but it’s great to have won my first TT – all thanks must go to Philip, Hector and the whole Relentless Suzuki team for the big effort.
When John [McGuinness] dropped out, I thought, ‘there goes the first Fireblade – this is my big chance.’ I could see Bruce at the end of the straights; then I got to follow him out after the first pit stop. I sat behind him then got past at Cronk Y Voddy. On my second stop the boys told me I was leading and to keep it smooth. I kept getting P1 +10, P1 +10 so I didn’t need to drop the hammer. Bruce came back past at Ballygarey on the last lap and really went for it but I hung in through Glen Helen. He put his foot out to me just before the 11th Milestone to come past and lift the pace. I was coming over the Mountain on the last lap thinking, I wish my dad was here to see this, and I was also thinking about big Martin [Finnegan] – I was tearing up in the helmet. My Relentless Suzuki was superb today and I’m just rapt.”

Bruce:-

“I didn’t have a great first lap, then when Cam came past me I knew it would be difficult to make any time back up. The bike worked well and I had no issues with the Pirelli tyres – everything worked superbly. I had a bit of a go on the last lap and I could see where Cameron was strong, but to finish second in a one-two for Relentless Suzuki in a Superbike TT is really good. I’m confident of a good run in the Senior next Friday.”

Trackblog.jpg

Philip Neill – Team Principal
“To have three TAS Performance prepared bikes on the podium is a phenomenal achievement for my father and myself, and more importantly for every member of the team, from the lorry drivers to the engine builders. I’d like to offer a big thank you to Suzuki and Relentless, and of course our loyal sponsors.

What can I say about Cameron? He continues to astound us with his results and we must remember – he was not expected to win here this week. He was unlucky not to pick up his first win at the North West 200, but to put his name on a famous TT trophy in only his second year on a superbike is astounding. He has stuck to the plan we set for him over the winter and it has paid dividends.

Bruce has recorded another phenomenal result and it’s great to see him back on a Superbike TT podium. He is one of the best riders around at the TT and it would be nice to see him fulfil his ultimate ambition of a superbike win.

Final results

Superbike TT

Winner – Cameron Donald [Relentless Suzuki] 1hr: 47min 05.89 [126.826mph]; 2nd – Bruce Anstey [Relentless Suzuki] 1hr: 47min 16.66 [126.614mph]; 3rd – Adrian Archibald [AMA Racing Suzuki] 1hr: 48min 37.97 [125.034mph]
