SPANISH CHALLENGE FOR RELENTLESS SUZUKI MX

The Relentless Suzuki MX team was out in action again at the weekend, this time at the combined World and European MX3 Championships at Alhama de Murcia in Spain.

Following an encouraging performance from Lewis Gregory at the last round in Portugal just one week ago, teammate Jamie Law would join in on the action this time, making his debut in the European Championships.

After a disappointing start in qualifying where Jamie qualified in 22nd position, the following day would see different track conditions due to overnight watering. Making a good start in the slippery conditions, Jamie was up to 11th spot by the end of lap one of the first race, eventually settling for a respectable 15th spot at the flag, after a battle in the final stages of the race. Race two would see a less successful start, leaving the Suzuki rider fighting for the whole of the race to finish in 18th position.

European regular Lewis Gregory started his weekend off in contrasting style, earning his best ever qualification position of ninth place. Unfortunately mediocre starts were his undoing, and with the conditions making it tricky to pass Lewis' frustration led to a costly mistake in race one leaving him finishing outside of the points. Keen to correct things in race two, Lewis managed to fight his way to 13th place at the flag - a great result considering he was brought down in a multi-rider pile-up and had to fight back from a lowly 35th place.

Completing his European debut, Jamie Law flew home to the UK on Sunday night to take part in the traditional Bank Holiday Monday motocross at Bassenthwaite in the Lake District, where despite entering his third day of hard competition, Jamie won the event overall with a second place and two race wins.

Both Lewis and Jamie will now begin preparations for their entry in the British Grand Prix at Mallory Park this weekend (May 31st and June 1st)
