British MX Champs Round 2 @ an extremely wintery Canada Heights!
Well what can I say.....?
Let’s just say the second round of the British Motocross Championships yesterday at the infamous Canada Heights sorted the men from the boys!
Not just the teams and riders either, the fans that braved the blizzard conditions and freezing cold to stay and support ....we salute you!
After a morning of snow flurries and an extremely wet & white looking track, the weather finally calmed down a bit for the 1st MX2 race.
The well established track at Canada Heights soon got torn up leaving a number of the sections of the track deeply rutted.
This didn’t put off any of the riders however and some brilliant performances were shown including some awesome riding by No. 24 Shaun Simpson who went on to take overall victory on the day.
Still recovering from Injury Relentless Suzuki rider Scott Probert put in a sterling effort and finally wound up in 11th place after a few unlucky incidents.
On to MX1 and once again Billy Mackenzie had an excellent start and kept the lead to take pole in the first race.
One rider that really caught our eye this weekend was 15 year old Scott Elderfield who put in an awesome performance on the day keeping our very own Brad Anderson on his toes throughout the whole race. After an exciting battle Scott finally took the flag in 5th place just seconds behind Anderson.
Anderson went on to take second overall in the MX1 class after following Mackenzie home in the final race, puting him firmly in second place overall in the general standings.
Despite the wintery conditions all in all it was a great day out with some of the riders putting in some world class performances.
