Ever wondered....

Ever wondered how a pool gap could actually appear in the middle of an exhibition centre - as it did at this month's Earl's Court Boat Show? Well ponder no more, the construction of the pool took the team just under a week to build. The pools get put together then joined with fiberglassed, then painted over. "We had to do it this way though because it was indoors and leaks just weren’t an option". Quite, wouldn't want Earl's Court as your local lido now would you?! check out this youtube clip courtesy of Matt Crowhurst...

Relentless Presents NASS08!

Untitled-1 copy.jpg

Relentless are set to bring you the biggest UK Action Sports Event to date in 2008! From 13-15 June NASS will return, bigger and better than ever before. The organisers that deliver the Internationally renowned Rip Curl Boardmasters, Europe's biggest surf, skate and music festival have taken the bull by the horns and added NASS to their billing for next year. NASS has an 8 year heritage in the UK and has always had the potential to be one of the best Urban sports/music festivals in the world, with new organisers in charge the event is definitely now headed that way.

The set-up at Shepton Mallet will include having all vert ramps moved inside the main arena to include Pete King's infamous ramp and the Spine Ramp. Organisers are meeting with the best skaters/BMX'ers in the industry from all over the country to ensure street courses and contests will be slicker than ever before, expect more sports and a few surprises and the headline music acts currently in the pipeline are some of the biggest names in the UK festival scene. A few words from Gary Greenshields...

Well its been a long summer /fall from me that all started with a quick summer trip to new Zealand that ended up being a full 2 months down there. I was in Queenstown in the south island of New Zealand riding snowparks, just getting some new tricks locked in for the season and competed a bit while I was there (Billabong open 25th place and Burton open Quarter Pipe top 5 finalist).

After contests it was time to hang out with my Relentless team mates Tyler Chorlton and Tom West and just have some fun riding. A great time was had but I was time to head back to our side of the world for the Lockdown Projects new movie premiere of “Terminal Ferocity” a great night was had by all with a banging party after. Next up was the burton scrap metal comps in tamworth and Castleford. Both events kicked ass and what a turn out! Well done to ferg and the burton gang for the great events.

Tom West in New Zealand

The next week, home was going to be the London Ski Show Olympia for 6 days of jumping. It’s a 5 day show where we would do jumping demos for the public 5 times a day. It was quarter pipe made from snowflex which is like fake snow so after a warm up day I finally got to grips with it and had a really fun time riding with all the younger kids.

After my stint back in the UK it was time for me to head back to my pad out here in Austria. I arrived to be greeted with lots of early season snow and the resorts opening early. Fingers crossed its going to be a good one this year.

Get Well Soon Webbie!

Relentless rider Mark Webb is currently off his bike for the next 6 months recovering from a broken vertebrae. Instructed to stay in bed for 12 weeks, Mark will have to go back in 2 weeks for a check up, in his own words, "I can't Mark Webb this one, i will have to wait it out"...
The crash happened while mark was in the process of filming a 'save the skatepark' section at Southsea where Mark has contributed a bunch of new ramps. Mark fell on a huge frontflip over the new fun box and fell onto his back in the landing, the only good news is it looks like he won't need surgery. Mark is undoubtedly one of the world's best BMX'ers, we wish him all the best in his recovery and look forward to seeing him back in in action.

Kyle Blake joins the Team

A new addition to the Relentless team, Havant local and BMX rising star Kyle Blake. Kyle started a career in the parks originally on a skateboard but switched to BMX 3 years ago after some encouragement from the country's biggest talent in the sport, Mark Webb. Kyle today is part of a new generation of BMX'ers who are taking the UK scene by storm and will undoubtedly go on to make waves Internationally.

Kyle joined the Relentless tour this summer and went onto Nass to join the rest of the tour crew in the street final. Unfortunately Kyle broke his foot in the crucial heat...fortunately he's fully recovered and looking forward to a next year's comps, including NASS08 - Which will return once more to bring the country's best BMX'ing to the action sports hungry nation. Check out this final podcast from the Relentless BMX tour - the NASS street final episode. ouch.

The Alley's New Vert Ramps

I checked out the new ramps at The Alley in Corby today to drop off some Relentless for all athletes competing tomorrow - what a sight! Zach Shaw and Scarfy have done an amazing job turning this around in just 9 weeks and Mandy has been working her socks off to get the UK media pumped about the new training facility for our UK BMX & Skate champions.
DSC00005.jpg

The ramps now make Adrenaline Alley the best training facility in Europe for vert riding, and to celebrate Mandy and the crew will be hosting vert comps over the weekend - BMX on Saturday and skate on Sunday with a £500 in each prize category from yours truly.

Nick Davies - Men's Cable Wakeboarder of the Year!

Relentless rider Nick Davies has just been nominated the Men's Cable Wakeboarder of the year by the EAME Cable Wakeboard Council, the governing body of cable wakeboarding in Europe, Africa and Middle East.

The title for the Princes club local follws a hugely successful 2007. Nick competed in the Open Men's Category for the second year running although his age is technically Junior Men. He blew away the competition to once again became European Champion with the commentator saying that the only one to beat Nick is Nick himself!

Nick said that it was the best feeling ever to win the title again this year. His advice to a new wakeboarder is to have loads of fun, never get stressed as it doesn’t help with wakeboarding being angry and always smile! For more advice on how to get started in cable wakeboarding go to www.cablewakeboard.net
