'Relentless' No Half Measures Wakeboard Tour Diary Entry Days 1-3

Inspiration and improvement .... welcome to the Relentless No Half Measures Wakeboard Tour 2007! Well it all kicked off at the Quays Nightmare Slider Comp. First stop in what is to be a week long journey around the country ending at the UK's premier wakeboard comp, Wakestock.

bus crew

On tour are some of the leading riders and personalties in the UK wakeboard scene. we won't embarass them by throwing out a list of names but you know who they are ... they've been talking about this gig for weeks!!! Also on tour to document and added the professional touch to the week is Steve Harwood and Grain Media as well as physio and nutritionist the task master himself, Mr Neil Shannon.

The Quays Slider comp commenced with qualifiers at 6pm before finals at 10 pm in the dark illuminated by lighting rigs on the banks. For the crowd the rail looked great but it seemed to be a different stroy for the riders who found it tricky to spot the take off! Well its the same for everyone and only goes to highlight their skills. As we like to say, No Half Measures and as Relentless were providing the £600 prize money, bring it on!

Cons

All the riders were having a good crack and from our crew it was Jonty, James and Matt Crowhurst pushing the hardest. Unfortunately they did not make the podium but a great time was had by all at the event, which was, by the way, fancy dress. The Relentless Tour Convicts made a huge impact and then proceeded to have a ball. Sorry bus driver Chris if we kept you up at all, won't happen again!

bye bye lewis

The next morning was an early start as the Tour Bus departed at 7am to go to Princes Club for an 8am boat session. Shannon woke the lads up with a healthy breakfast and a can of the good stuff to get them fired up for the forthcoming session. However there was of course time to lob birthday boy Lewis Cornwall into the drink! haha!

Dom Hatcher

After a little bit of boat trouble the session was fully in swing and all the boys were ripping. It was at this point the best session yellow jersey was introduced. The yellow jersey is awarded for best session but the criteria is not just best riding but best attitude and commitment. Basically the core philosophies of Relentless. In the running for this session were two cable experts Lewis Cornwall and Dom Hatcher who both showed the courage to really try and improve their boat skill and were not scared to learn. Lewis laid down a few untried tricks while Dom went down real hard in one of his sets but not before he tweaked out a few mighty bat wings! In the end however it was Jonty Green who took the yellow jersey with sets that involved new tricks, big slams and an energy and striving for results that was clear for all to see. Nice one Jonty, see how long you can hold onto it!

jonty

After lunch it was off to Oxford and the Annual Oxford Wakeboard Club Event. This turned out to be a really chilled session and of course our lads came out on top. Nick Davies took home the win with Jonty and James in second and third! Once again their was a little party before bed time! It was lewis' birthday so i guess its allowed! Just don't ever ask James Young for one of his yet to be named cocktails unless you have the sweetest tooth known to man.

party fires

Another early start and the boys had a ride at Oxford before heading back to Princes for a rest before taking on an evening double up session. Night riders every man...

grand air

This morning kicked off at 6.30 for some dawny photo opps and at present the team is on the motorway heading to Milton Keynes for another ride before they will hit up the Sno!Zone at Xscape and try a little cross over action. Looking forward to seeing how they go and will report back later. Hopefully tomorrow. Later. R.
